April–May and September–October are the sweet spot. Mild Mediterranean climate — rideable virtually year-round.
All asphalt on quiet secondary roads, with easy gradients. The distance is the only real challenge.
Fountain in front of the circolo in San Lorenzo, municipal fountain plus bars and shops in Riotorto, and bar, restaurant, grocery and local cheeses in Valpiana.
From Scarlino Scalo to Curanova the road is fast-flowing (though not busy), with a steep descent. Ride with care.
