Best season

Spring and autumn are the sweet spot, and the sea breeze keeps summer honest. Start early in July and August — Cala Violina is worth the crowds anyway.

Bike & surface

44% unpaved on hardpack and flat dirt roads. 40–45 mm tyres recommended — a relaxed, traffic-free loop.

Water & resupply

Water points, cafe, bakery and the SuperNatural bike shop in Follonica. Bars, grocery stores and restaurants at Puntone di Scarlino on route, and more at Porto di Scarlino just 30 metres off it.

Don't miss

A swim at Cala Violina, and the pine-forest section of the future Ciclovia Tirrenica through the Sterpaia park.
